August Favourites

Today I’m posting one of those ‘favourites’ post that I always read a ton of at the end/beginning of every month. I’ve got a bit of a random selection here – clothes, make-up, skincare things, books, music, food…but I’ll try not to waffle on too much! Here goes…

I’ll start with beauty/skincare products. The first new product I’ve been loving is Garnier Botanical Gel Wash with Honey Flower. Up until now I have been a loyal user of cream facial cleansers, but I spotted this new gel wash when I was shopping for a new cream cleanser. Honey is one of my favourite ingredients in all kinds of skin and hair care, firstly because I love the smell, but mainly because it always leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished. I use this gel wash every day to take off my make-up and my face always feels squeaky clean after using it – it lathers so easily so a little bit goes a long way and I don’t need to scrub to get every trace of mascara off! It’s made for dry/very dry skin, so it doesn’t leave my face feeling stripped of natural moisture. So, I might have been converted to a gel wash user!

Another skincare product I have been really loving is The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Butter. This is a bit of a weird one as it’s a really old product – so old, in fact, that you can only pick it up during sale season; it’s no longer part of The Body Shop’s core range. I wish it was, though, because the smell is just divine. I don’t normally go for fruity smelling products like The Body Shop’s mango or strawberry range (I always feel like I want to eat them, not wear them!) but I’ll make an exception for the raspberry scent (and the peach scent, but that’s for another post.) I’ve especially been loving the moisturising effect of this body butter on my feet and my elbows, which tend to get all scaly and gross, but just a little bit of this has them looking as good as new.

My favourite make-up to wear this month has been…no make-up at all! Returning to work after my summer holiday has been rough and I’m just not feeling the need to impress anyone by putting a lot of effort into wearing make-up. In the morning I would rather use the time it takes to apply make-up to make myself a decent breakfast and have a cup of coffee in bed with my boyfriend. Plus I feel like my skin needs a break, so I just cleanse and slather on plenty of moisturiser with SPF.

Okay, moving on to some other things (I could make a list purely of skincare products, but that would last forever.) The music I have been listening to this month to feature on my list is Paramore‘s new album, After Laughter. The album was actually released in May, but I’ve only just gotten around to listening to the whole thing properly. I loved the first single, Hard Times, as soon as it was released and the whole album follows suit – it’s so catchy and easy to listen to and it really lifts my mood. I also have a huge girl-crush on Hayley Williams. I’m planning to see Paramore in Guadalajara in October.

Next up on my list is another old idea – I mean really, really old. I’m so late to the party, like 10 years late, but my next favourite this month is…Harry Potter. Embarrassing as it is, I’m just now reading the Harry Potter series for the first time. I’ve seen the movies about a thousand times but never got round to reading the books, but now that I’m halfway through the Prisoner of Azkaban I not only feel like I’m finally catching up on what I missed, I’m just really enjoying reading them. I tend to read very heavy-going books that take a long time to get through, so it’s so nice to be reading something light, and to be spending more time reading for pleasure.

Finally, I’ve got to mention what I’m drinking right now as I write this post – Starbucks Berry Yoghurt Frappuccino. I’m not usually a frappuccino kind of gal (or a Starbucks kind of gal, for that matter) but it’s honestly so good. I don’t like drinking too much caffeine so I was looking for an alternative, I tried it out and it’s my new go-to. If you’re after a cold drink, something sweet ,or just want to try something new, I highly recommend it.

And that’s all for this month, guys! Thanks for reading and let me know in the comments what you’ve been loving this month ❤️
